This series is lessons from Elijah. Learning through experience definitely makes an impression. We can all learn from hard knocks, but itâs a lot less painful to learn by example. First Corinthians 10:6 and 11 say that the experiences of those in the Bible were recorded for our examples. Elijahâs story is full of great examples, both good and bad.
07 Andrew continues his series on Lessons from Elijah.
10 This widow woman was going about her day, collecting sticks for herself, and her sonâs last meal. She was acting like it was just a normal day. That takes faith.
44 (1 Kings 17:13) âAnd Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.â
43 Elijah wasnât taking from this woman, he was giving to her. She needed to take a step of faith, and she needed to give.
11 Most people think that the only reason to give is because a ministry just really needs your money. Churches and ministries do need money, but thatâs not the reason to give. Itâs not about what a pastor needs, but itâs about you needing to trust God. You need to take a step of faith. There is something supernatural that happens when a person takes a step of faith, in the financial realm.
25 Iâve never met a mature Christian, whoâs not a committed giver. On the other hand, I have met many Christians, who are nice people, love God, and are changed people, but their lives are up and down. It is consistent, that the people who are up and down like a yo-yo, are not the committed, faithful givers. Those type of people only give when itâs convenient to give.
51 There is a direct relationship between the way you handle money, and your spiritual maturity.
12 (Luke 16:10) âHe that is faithful in that which is least is faithful in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.â Heâs saying that trusting God with your money, is the least use of your faith.
44 There is a direct relationship between giving and receiving. (Luke 6:38) âGive, and it shall be given unto you;âŚâ Everybody would like it to be given unto them, but they do not want give.
25 If you canât trust God with that, which is least (Luke 16:10), I believe you are deceiving yourself to think that you are trusting God for healing, for deliverance, for joy, for peace, for marriage, etc. Yet, you canât trust God with that, which is least.
41 These are some of the lessons that Iâve learned from Elijah. Elijah said, âyou give to me first.â (1 Kings 17:13-14) He did this, because it was for her benefit.
57 Itâs not about the pastor, itâs about the people. You need to learn to give. We need to exhort people to give. This is Godâs way to bless you, and to get His blessing to you.
39 (Mark 10:17-22); (Mark 10:23-24) Itâs not that riches are the problem, itâs the trust in riches. You trust in riches if you donât tithe or give over that, because you think you need to have more in order to give.
01 The Lord said that we would receive a hundred fold on anything we give to Him. (Mark 10:30) We will receive a hundred fold in this life, and in the world to come everlasting life.
13 A statement out of a magazine I had read, totally changed my life. It read, âGod is looking for somebody to take the persecution of being blessed - to get beyond what people think and start caring about what He thinks.â
