This series is called Humility: God’s Path To More Grace. Unfortunately humility is not most people's goal. Andrew is teaching on humility against pride. Jesus said he was meek and lowly in heart and yet he ran out the money changers for defiling the temple. Humility needs to be redefined in our understanding today. We need to recognize that God’s kingdom operates on a different system than what this world's system operates on.
08 Andrew continues his series on Humility: God’s Path To More Grace.
43 When we are just focused on ourselves, and we forget the bigger picture. We forget God, and we forget others. Then, we are just living our life to the max. (1 John 2:16) “…the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
15 Satan’s sin was not that he hated God, or that he hated everything about God. He envied God. It was jealousy, and he wanted to be God himself. (Isaiah 14:12-15)
03 Lucifer was the anointed cherub, and he was like the worship leader in heaven, leading people towards praise and worship with God. He didn’t want to give all that to God. He wanted it for himself. That is pride. It’s jealousy. It is envy.
19 The reason that praising God effects the devil so negatively is because it’s like rubbing his nose in his defeat. He wanted the praise that was directed towards God, and when he couldn’t get it, it just bothers him. He is a total ego-maniac. He wants all the attention. When you start glorifying God, Satan can’t handle it. It makes demons flee. (1 Samuel 16:23)
47 Pride originated with the devil, and any person who is operating in pride, got that from the devil.
35 (1 Timothy 3:6) “Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.” This isn’t saying that he would be condemned by the devil, but it’s saying that when you get into pride you come under the judgement that God placed on the devil.
25 When you’re a novice, you think you have the world figured out. So, he’s saying here in (1 Timothy 3:6) that you need to put someone in charge, who is not as susceptible to pride. That’s not saying that all old people are humble, but life has a way of humiliating you, and bringing some of that arrogance out of you. And, it’s saying that we need leaders who have been tested and tried, and know that it wasn’t their great wisdom that brought them through, but that they know it was God, and their dependence on God that made it work.
56 (Hebrews 4:15) “…but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus had a tendency, not a sinful tendency, but he didn’t want to die. He didn’t want suffer pain, or rejection. He had those things come at him, but that was selfish. He came to die. He was born to die. That was his purpose. Jesus could’ve escaped this, but that would’ve been selfish. That would’ve been pride. That would’ve been exalting his own personal safety over God’s will for him.
54 All pride comes from the devil. Most people think that self-preservation is good. That you need to promote yourself. And they reason that, ‘if I don’t promote myself. If I don’t take care of myself, who will?” That is a humanistic attitude. That might be true if there wasn’t a God who promised, ‘If you will humble yourself, I will exalt you.’
01 Since there is a God who has promised that He would promote you. God weighs all of our actions, and He resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5) Since we have a God who has promised these things, and for you to promote yourself, that is a lack of dependence on God. That is a lack of recognizing God as your source.
46 (Proverbs 13:10) “Only by pride cometh contention…” (Proverbs 17:14) “Contention is the beginning of strife.” If you put those two verses together, you can say, ‘Only by pride, comes strife in your life. ‘
19 (Romans 12:19) ‘Vengeance is mine, thus saith the Lord. I will repay.’ If you get in and defend yourself, God won’t defend you. But if you will let God be the one that defends you, God will defend you better than you can defend yourself.
26 I can guarantee you there is some day we are all going to stand before God, and He is going to set the record straight. Every wrong is going to be righted & links to next video
