This series is called Humility: God’s Path To More Grace. Unfortunately humility is not most people's goal. Andrew is teaching on humility against pride. Jesus said he was meek and lowly in heart and yet he ran out the money changers for defiling the temple. Humility needs to be redefined in our understanding today. We need to recognize that God’s kingdom operates on a different system than what this world's system operates on.
08 Andrew continues his series on Humility: God’s Path To More Grace.
31 True humility will stop you from being angry. I’m basing this primarily on Proverbs 13.10. “Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.” Anger is not wisdom. According to Proverbs 17.14, ‘contention is the beginning of strife.’
35 When you humble yourself, it will keep you from being angry. When you understand how much you have been forgiven, and you receive that love of God, it will cause you to be merciful to other people.
12 Because the man in Matthew 18.32-33 didn’t forgive someone their small debt, his master wasn’t going to forgive his large debt. The Lord said, that’s the way we will be treated if we don’t forgive other people.
31 People who are unforgiving, harsh, hard, and demand all these things from other people, these are people who do not understand how much they have been forgiven. There is nobody who has done anything to you, or me that even comes close to what we have done to God.
33 (Luke 7.47) “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same liveth little.” This is talking about the woman who had come, and was taken in the act of adultery, and the people wanted to stone her, but Jesus let her go. She fell at his feet, and washed them with her tears, and dried his feet with her hair.
57 I have received a revelation of God’s love, and how much he’s forgiven me. I understand how much God loves me, and how much he’s forgiven me. And, because of this, I love God, a lot.
03 It is not what other people do to you that makes you angry, but it’s what’s on the inside of you. It’s pride and self-centeredness that makes you angry. If you were to put God, his kingdom, and other people ahead of yourself, you could get to a place to where it doesn’t matter what happens to you.
00 (John 3.30) “He must increase, but I must decrease.” This is humility. Humility is putting God and His kingdom ahead of yourself.
38 The reason that you’re responding so much to the criticism, and to the things that are happening to you is because you are so alive to yourself. And, one of the keys is just dying to yourself. (Matthew 16.24) “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
01 Some people think that if they weren’t constantly competing, putting down other people, and trying to advance themselves, then they’d be run over. That would be true, if there wasn’t a God who promised, that when you humble yourself, He will exalt you. He will give grace to the humble, but He will resist the proud. (James 4.10)
22 There is a God who has promised us, that if you will humble yourself, He will exalt you.
34 If you were truly humble, you would cast your care on the Lord (1 Peter 5.6-7) & links to next video
