How to Treat Your Temple ep.2 | Jonathan Evans
What’s up family?! In our last episode and our vlog, we’ve been talking about how taking care of our bodies is spiritual. I know it sounds like a lot, but Paul and I can tell you how to start! Let’s get into it!
I know it can feel overwhelming to see all of this stuff that we’ve talked about and try to figure out how to get into it. Take some baby steps! Find a good and clean alkaline water. What’s the big deal about water? Most of the time, the cause of our headaches is dehydration. If you’re not drinking enough water, your body is going to show you the signs and a headache is one of them. Instead of automatically reaching for a painkiller, make sure you’re staying hydrated.
Next, start bringing in more fruits and vegetables. Freshen up your plate with some leafy greens by doubling your vegetable intake. Incorporate vegetables twice a day and try to go organic. Leave the cookies and chips at the store and replace them with fruits! Snack on apples, pears, or other fruits when you need something to snack on.
Some of the sugar-free foods and drinks that you see in the stores are deceiving you! The other ingredients are not as healthy as you think and that high fructose corn syrup is one of them. Did you know that it contributes to cancer and can contribute to attention and behavioral issues in children? If you need something sweet, then there are some sweeteners you can use. Raw sugar is a natural alternative. Look for brown cane sugar, because that’s going o be the most natural version. Raw honey is also a great choice.
You want to know the cost? It all comes down to what we attribute value to. It’s no secret that we’re going to be willing to spend money on the things that are valuable to us. That might be a bag, a TV, a new pair of shoes, or anything else. Why not let it be your body? You can’t trade it in like a new car!
I just got started doing this two years ago and wish I’d done it when I was 20! That’s why Kanika and I have gotten our kids started now while they are still young. We really want them to build those healthy habits early and carry them into adulthood.
Making those small changes to your diet is going to go a long way and build the foundation you need to take care of yourself. It’s about loving what you eat and loving how you feel. Then the spirit of God will be living in a house that’s worthy of who he is.
Be steadfast, unmovable, always abound in the work of the Lord and know that it will not go in vain!
