Welcome to a special broadcast of The Gospel Truth. Join Andrew as he interviews Pastors Bob Yandian and Duane Sheriff both members of the Board of Directors at Andrew Wommack Ministries. Sit down with them as they discuss very important issues; where they believe America is today and the roll of the Christian believer in response.
0:27 Andrew asks, "Should Christians go to war?"
0:32 Andrew quotes John 18:36 - Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
0:45 Jesus's Kingdom is a spiritual kingdom.
1:02 Physical kingdoms need to be defended by military force.
1:15 Bob Yandian quotes Jesus in Mark 3:27 - No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
1:25 America used to be the strongest nation in the world, but we are losing that.
2:05 Reducing our military is being done in the name of love and peace, but it's really just stupidity.
2:15 Duane points out that Jesus' commands to his disciples in Luke 22:35 seem to counter the philosophy of disarmament...Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
5:07 Murder is never justified, but killing is. There is a vast difference in defense and aggression.
5:51 Peter was wrong in cutting off the high priest's servant's ear because although Jesus was innocent, the servant was only doing his job.
6:30 Andrew gives an example of a moral dilemma faced by a pastor whose daughter came out as a lesbian. In such situations, how do we properly respond?
7:45 We should treat homosexuality just as we treat any other sin: stand for the Word, but with love.
8:30 All weakness of the flesh must be overcome by walking after the spirit of God, in Christ, in you.
11:00 Even now, in the New Testament age of grace, sin must be resisted and condemned.
13:00 God is love but some religions have taught that to mean that there is no hell. Andrew shares, I love people but I'm not going to let them beat up my wife. I'm going to defend her. Love has hate for evil.
14:30 - Pastor Duane shares from I Timothy 1:8-9. The Apostle Paul teaches that the Old Testament law was not made for a righteous (in Christ Jesus) man...it was made for the lawless. There were those that killed their children, their dads and mom. There is a place, Pastor Duane says there is a place in these two kingdoms, the old and new covenant where there is righteous judgement, there are some things that if it isn't punished, it will destroy a nation...
16:58 Pastor Duane shares, I just don't think people really understand the deadliness of sin.
19:13 In I Corinthians Paul is clear, "Know you not that unrighteousness shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Be not deceived, nor fornicators, nor idolaters, or adulterers, nor effeminate, or idolaters, nor adulterers , nor effeminate, or abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. He does preach grace, but shows us that these behaviors are wrong.
