Will you follow God? # Shorts
"Exodus describes the Hebrew slaves' deliverance from Egyptian bondage. It’s a time of dramatic, revolutionary change for folks who had a hard time assimilating change. They left everything familiar — their favorite foods, habits, routines — all they had invested in was gone, and they are challenged to step into new things. Better things were coming — good things with more freedom — but it was still an enormous amount of change. Likewise, we’re walking through a season of unprecedented changes. And while I can point to many things that are good and positive — more people baptized in recent months than any season in the history of the church, ministering to more people, seeing new outcomes, serving more children — it still doesn’t feel easy. In the midst of tumultuous change, the Exodus generation personally witnessed God’s power in greater ways than ever before. Sound familiar? We were told 2,000,000 of us would very likely die in a pandemic — but we didn’t, and we have seen expression after expression of God's power. The Exodus folks had front row seats, participating in God’s plan and purpose. And so do we.
What’s key in the Scripture narrative was their response. The outcomes of their lives ultimately depended, not upon God and His willingness, but upon their responses. I would submit to you the key in our generation isn’t about the power of God, His willingness, His interest, or what He intends to do. It’s about our response. He’s Almighty God — an omnipotent, all-powerful God — and He will rock the world around you if you’ll follow Him."
