LYRICS:
Blessed are all they that fear the Lord and walk in his ways.
For thou shalt eat the labours of thine hands: O well is thee, and happy shalt thou be.
Thy wife shall be as the fruitful vine upon the walls of thine house.
Thy children like the olive branches round about thy table.
Lo, thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.
The Lord from out of Sion shall so bless thee: that thou shalt see Jerusalem in
prosperity all thy life long.
Yea, that thou shalt see thy children’s children: and peace upon Israel.
(Psalm 128)
Gloria - The sacred music of John Rutter
Alongside Gloria and several of Rutter's most popular shorter pieces (including For the Beauty of the Earth and All things Bright and Beautiful) are pieces especially recorded by the Cambridge Singers for this release – Cantate Domino, Arise, shine, Wedding Canticle and Hymn to the Creator of Light.
"This is a jewel of a record." Gramophone
John Rutter, English composer and conductor, is associated with choral music throughout the world. His recordings with the Cambridge Singers (the professional chamber choir he set up in 1983) have reached a wide global audience, many of them featuring his own music in definitive versions. Among John’s best-known choral works are Gloria, Requiem, Magnificat, Mass of the Children, and Visions, together with many church anthems, choral songs and Christmas carols.
