The Idea of Revelation: Clarifying the Proper Place of Scripture
John Stonestreet describes why the Bible matters and deserves more than our lip service.
The Bible is the most important and most significant Book of all time -- the most read, the most loved, and the most hated of all books.
Christians claim the Bible is the Word of God, but do we actually live up to this claim?
Scripture is the revelation of God, the Word which is able to save us. It tells us that God exists, that He is personal, that he speaks to us, and that the Bible is His own living Word.
Thus, Scripture cannot be an incidental part of our faith in Jesus Christ. It must have central place.
To know Scripture is to know truthfully, and to know God.
So every believer needs to be encouraged to become deeply rooted in this Word which is able to save.
