What is the intersection of the Church and human services? The Church can uniquely offer meaningful friendships and community integration in a way that human services cannot by itself. Instead of abdicating responsibility for the caretaking of people with disabilities to human services, the Church can, instead, fulfill the command to love our neighbor and offer a ministry of “presence over programs.” Attention is given to how believers can properly and legally express their faith as vocational human service workers and how believers can advocate for the disabled, both legally and governmentally.
