TAKE THE "A" TRAIN - Roger Williams
Roger's fabulous interpretation of Duke Ellington's signature tune, "Take the 'A' Train," performed at the Sheldon Theatre in St. Louis with his talented band of fellow musicians: Michael George, David Johnson, Ed Finn, Gary Nesteruk, and Jimmy Carnelli. This song is featured on Roger's albums, "Pop Goes the Ivories" and "The Man They Call Mr. Piano." Duke Ellington said the music and lyrics for the song came when he wrote directions to get to his house by NY subway for jazz pianist Billy Strayhorn, who wrote it and other arrangements for Ellington's band. "Take the 'A' Train to go the Sugar Hill, way up in Harlem." Website: https://rogerwilliamsmusic.com
