When life goes sideways with grief, disappointment, or condemnation, we can start to feel distant from God. We fear he doesn't understand what we're going through, or worse, doesn't care. But Jesus invites us to draw near him in our worst moments. As J.I. Packer encourages us, "The stress of the New Testament is not on the difficulty and danger of drawing near to the holy God, but on the boldness and confidence with which believers may approach him: a boldness that springs directly from faith in Christ, and from the knowledge of his saving work. 'In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence'" (Eph 3:12). In that vein, this song encourages us to come to the throne of grace with joy, knowing God will not only hear us but will keep us to the very end.
