The only rule in the Garden of Eden was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which is identical to the Law. We are under a new covenant of grace and the old covenant of knowledge of good and evil is no more. God wants us to be free in His Presence and not be afraid of Him. A guilty conscience is an evil/seared conscience (conscious of sin all the time) which has the ability to keep us away from God. Grace sets us free from a guilty conscience.
