National Memorial Day Concert in DC - WARSAW CONCERTO - WW II 50th Anniversary - Roger Williams
In 1992, the 3rd Annual National Memorial Day Concert in Washington DC marked the 50th Anniversary of WW II. Roger Williams magnificently performed the "Warsaw Concerto" with the National Symphony Orchestra, while moving WW II film footage was shown. This star-studded 1992 event was on the rainy west lawn of the US Capitol.
"Warsaw Concerto” was written by Richard Addinsell in the style of Sergei Rachmaninoff for the 1941 British film, "Dangerous Moonlight." The film takes place during the 1939 German Nazi invasion of Poland when an American reporter falls in love with a Polish airman and piano virtuoso.
