Today is the end of the series of Lessons from the Life of Joseph. We can learn so much from the lives of those who loved God and His Word. God even tells us in His Word that all things that happened to those in the Old Testament were written for our learning ( I Corinthians 10: 1-11 ), even to help us not make the same mistakes. Let's learn from the life of Joseph the biblical principle that the choices we make when we come under life's pressures will determine our outcome.
09 Andrew continues to teach about the life of Joseph.
02 They didn’t care about their father. They saw him grieve for twenty-two years, and they didn’t care, but finally they came to a place and Judah said, ‘We can’t go back without Benjamin, the youngest son. It will kill our father.’ He cared more about his father, than he did himself this time. That was a change. That was repentance. That was changing directions, going a different way.
45 Genesis 45:1-3 “Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me.. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. And he wept aloud; and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.”
39 There is coming a day, just as surely as these brothers had to confront everything that they had done to Joseph, there is coming a day that each one of us is going to have to confront the things that we’ve done
52 There is going to be a day that every person stands before God and gives an answer
52 Genesis 45:5 “Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”
28 He wasn’t wanting them to be condemned and depressed, He was trying to comfort them
58 God was using him to bring these guys to a place of repentance
31 Benjamin didn’t even know that Joseph was alive, apparently he fell under this same lie and deception that was told the father
34 Joseph is an example of Jesus. Jesus gave His life for us, he sacrificed, and yet we are the ones that actually caused Him to die.
28 There is going to be some of us standing before God, and when we see the mess that we’ve made of our lives and the mess we’ve made of other people’s lives, there is going to be a holy fear
40 To me this is a picture of how Joseph reached out to his brothers, to encourage them. Likewise, God reaches out to us
11 It was that word that he had from God that tested him, that kept him going, that kept him stable (Psalm 105:15-19)
59 For decades I didn’t see anything that looked consistent with what God had spoken to me, but that word tried me. It kept me. It purified me.
15 You are going through that period of time where nothing looks consistent with what God has put in your heart, and in the same way as I have used these verses, and God has used them to keep me going, and it touched Joseph, I offer all of this to you & links to next video
