In Mark 9:2-13, we study the transfiguration of Jesus. Jesus reveals a glimpse of his glory to his three closest disciples, then reveals again the mission he has here on earth. The disciples were expecting Jesus to overthrow the Romans, but Jesus makes clear that the salvation that he offers will be a result of him suffering, dying, and rising again. What an act of humility that Jesus would endure that through us! Those who follow Jesus should expect persecution and hardship, but know it is worth it to suffer for Christ!
