I’ve had a lot of mental health treatment... I’m very different from when I first came in... I was very thin-skinned. I was timid, afraid—I was afraid of a lot of things.. I had really low self-esteem... I thought I was retarded. That was kind of the message I received growing up... I’ve discovered.. I’m really pretty smart. When I discovered that, it changed my ways of thinking about myself, who I am, what I am [and] what I can do.. That was a big part of my criminal thinking, was my low self esteem.
