At the beginning of creation, in Genesis chapter 3, we had a home. It was the perfect home. It was the place where we were at home with God. The God that created us in his image had every intention for us to live with him, to dwell with him in this home on earth, forever. But you probably know what happened. Adam and Eve rebelled, and with them, all of humanity fell into rebellion. As a result of their disobedience, God cast them—and us—out of that perfect garden. Ever since, we have been, in a sense, a homeless people wandering aimlessly through life trying to make our way back home. But in a sinful world that home eludes us. That’s why Jesus Christ came to this world, and it’s exactly what we celebrate at Christmas. Are you longing for home this Christmas?
