Paul was imprisoned in Rome while the recipients of this letter were a great distance away at Philippi; but the “oneness” he shared with them in the Spirit was very apparent to him. He understood that for the Philippian church to survive and prosper, the Christians would have to come together and strengthen their fellowship in the gospel.
