How To Make a Successful Christian YouTube Channel
0:00 Mike's story
9:00 Huge key is consistency over time; Create content that really helps people
11:00 Define a target audience; "What do I wish I had?"; Get a footing in a niche, you are not trying to appeal to everybody
11:47 Choose your audience. "If you try to reach everybody, nobody says, 'That's for me.'" Write out as detailed description as you can of your ideal viewer
17:05 If you want to primarily reach non-believers, have positive confict on your channel, as well as humanize the "other side" with videos showing interaction
18:53 Balancing what gets clicks vs representing things in a straightforward way
21:21 Thumbnails. Don't repeat Title in the thumbnail. Make the thumbnail and title a happy sandwich. Make the payoff from the thumbnail immediate as the video starts
24:04 Payoffs. "Here's what you're going to get from this video"
27:15 Breaking up the pace during thick content (the cat!)
29:34 Balancing being strategic with making content. Looking at analytics every day to see what videos are doing well. Looking at clickthrough rate of Title/Thumb. Consider changing if less than 3-5%. Look at how topics are performing
31:24 Using timestamps to create chapters in your videos
34:10 What am I good at?
35:35 Discussion on length of videos
38:23 How do we more effectively use YouTube? (emphasis on being short on time)
45:20 Making content for individuals instead of for groups
50:12 The current Christian landscape on YouTube
52:30 How do you fund your ministry?
56:18 Does YouTube ever demonetize your videos?
59:59 How do you decide on content to create? (Based on need and ability)
1:02:42 Ways to help YouTube apologetics. Donate, volunteer, give feedback or support
Many thanks to the YouTube channel "Theology, Apologetics, & Life with Christian Josh", for providing these timestamps to help others!.
Many people would think a channel like mine simply wouldn't work on YouTube. But it does. And yours can too!
Here's some tips and wisdom on how to make it on YouTube as a channel that is overtly Christian. I have a lot more I could share about this stuff so I might make more content in the future to offer help.
I highly recommend you check out Sean McDowell's content. He has really helpful stuff and the more support he gets the more content he is likely to make! Let's encourage him!
