When we misunderstand these words, we tend to blame God for it. When we blame God for things we don't like or don't understand, then we also start to misunderstand who God is. The "God" we create instead becomes a God we fear, who seems cruel, who doesn't seem fair or kind or loving. But a healthy understanding of these Christian 4-letter words helps us see God more clearly. The Bible does say that we are to fear God, but appropriate fear of God comes from knowing who He really is and standing in awe, not being afraid of a mean, distant deity.
