Today Pastor Bobby Hamilton reminds us to train up our children in the way that they should go, not necessarily the way that we want them to go. It's important to understand what God has placed in the soul of each our children that is unique. He helps us understand how to discover the uniqueness of each of our children. How do you do that? Pray specifically for understanding (looking beyond their tantrums) to unlock the combination of their specific personality, celebrating their uniqueness instead of punishing them for nonconforming. Secondly, take time to listen! (Are they shy or outgoing? What are their interests and goals? Ask others - what do you see in my child that I might be overlooking? Thirdly, lead by the way that you live. More is caught than taught. It's never too early or too late to discover how God wants to use you to shape the children He has trusted you with.
