In this series Andrew Wommack interviews David Barton and Mark Cowart. Talking about the current issues facing our culture in the United States of America and how it relates to history and politics.
10 David Barton warns of an unbiblical teaching in the church which says, “You have to obey the laws of the land”, saying, rather, “ No, you have to obey the laws of the land as long as they don’t contradict the laws of God.” Acts 4:18-20 Disciples chose to obey God rather than man. Hebrews 11 – Many are in the “Faith Hall of Fame” because of civil disobedience when civil authorities crossed God – for example, Hebrew midwives, Daniel, the three young Hebrew men. Romans 13:3-4 God ordained civil authorities to punish the wicked and to reward the righteous but today society has this opposite.
00 Acts 5:29 …We ought to obey God rather than men. World War II was the most preventable war in history in that when Hitler invaded the first country, he gave orders to pull back at any resistance. If they would have fought, we wouldn’t have had World War II. If we had fought changes in laws over prayer in schools and over abortion, we wouldn’t be fighting where we are now. We’ve got to draw the line.
00 Andrew says that this is why we are starting the Practical Government School at Charis Bible College… to equip our students to take on this mountain. Mark Cowart cites the seven mountains of influence which must be addressed to impact the culture for the kingdom of God. Those “at the top” of these mountains become the mind-molders and the shapers of the culture. We must not hesitate to vote due to a lack of hope. God has had His hand upon us at critical times in our history like this.
00 2 Kings 22-23 David Barton said that we must do what Josiah did, reintroduce people to the word of God – to get the people re-centered on God. The Practical Government School at CBC will do this for government. The government became ungodly when godly people got out of the government. Even some senators who openly speak of Jesus often separate their jobs from their practice of faith. At Charis, biblical principles are applied everywhere in an integrated program the way we used to run our government. Elected officials must first have a biblical world view in order to follow biblical principles in their government positions.
55 God is involved in the affairs of nations. The Practical Government School at CBC teaches about God’s hand in history. A complete historical record shows that many of America’s founding documents are not strictly secular.
40 Practical Government School at CBC uses history texts which teach effective governing dating back to when Americans trusted their government and which reflect our founders’ original intent. Then we study what the US Constitution specifically states from texts written by a Supreme Court Justice appointed by James Madison, “The Father of The Constitution”. Then finally we study effective campaigning for office.
50 Andrew points out that the Practical Government School at CBC is a third year course, so graduates will have a thorough understanding of the biblical view of God, themselves, and the world. Mark added that quality people of all walks, ages, and backgrounds are going to CBC and will be leading in many areas of government – we all have to be open to what The Lord wants in this country. We have a “Word deficit” in this nation.
00 David teaches from 1 Kings 18:1-13 to say that this training is also essential for government staff and even lobbyists who can favorably influence the government processes. The Constitution addresses timeless principles and is still completely relevant today but some in office are attacking it. People need to be aware of the limits of authority of officials who are overstepping their office. No other school anywhere is doing what CBC is doing with the Practical Government School.
30 Andrew points out that Supreme Court justices are not actually un-removable. David describes Article Three and a principle of the Declaration of Independence stating that there would be no life time appointments and that judges would be accountable to people.
