A White House Christmas Card
The annual Christmas card greeting from the president and first lady is a tradition going back to Calvin Coolidge, in 1927. Presidents over the years have expressed a greeting of peace and good will—many opting for a simple “Merry Christmas!”
In 2007, on “The View,” Barbara Walters said she received the “most religious White House Christmas card in her memory.” Featuring a verse from Nehemiah 9:6, it read: "'You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it. . . . You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.' May the joy of all creation fill your heart this blessed season 2007. Signed George and Laura Bush."
